27 Feb 2015

One common project (3 years)
26 partners & 20 associates, coming from 18 EU and 17 non EU-countries
One major challenge for the EU and its Neighborhood: Development Education and Awareness Raising (DEAR)

The first Steering Committee of the partners of the project "LADDER - Local Authorities as Drivers for Development Education and Raising awareness”, led by ALDA, took place on 21 and 22 February, in Modena, Italy. The preview event of the project was held in the framework of the Festival BUK, an international book and cultural festival conceived and organised by the association Progettarte, historical member of ALDA and partner of the project.

Funded by EuropeAid, LADDER is a huge 3-year-project aiming at raising awareness and strengthening the capacity of associations of local authorities and civil society organizations to act in a sustainable way as drivers for development, fostering their role of multipliers within their countries, communities and networks, to develop a multi-level active engagement in global challenges.

The event was the occasion for all the 26 partners and 20 associates to get to know each other better and learn to cooperate. At the same time, a major conference open to the public was organized in the morning of 21 February, focused on the challenges related to the European Year of Development 2015, which represents the perfect background to address the ambitious goals of the project.

ALDA Secretary General, Antonella Valmorbida, and ALDA Vice President, Alessandro Perelli, took part in the event, together with Barbara Toce, Vice-President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe, and Francesca Minniti, EYD2015 Project Officer in Concord, to further discuss about development and new perspectives for 2015.
